In order to perform calculations on jobs, we have to first define the standard costs for every task
we want to use. We don't want to have to enter them again each time we create a quote.
The 'tasks' in Printpak 4.0 encompass all origination& pre-press, finishing, packing, delivery and
ink. The number of the tasks is fixed, but you can re-name them as required, with the exception
of the first two tasks in finishing which are reserved for pre-press and post-press cutting. (yes we
know that pre-press cutting is not strictly finishing, but it is a production process, proportional to
the length of the run, so from a mathematical perspective we have included it there)
'Tasks' in this context do not currently include press, paper or platemaking, which are handled
elsewhere.
For each task you can set up a detailed price list.
You can set up for each origination pre-press and finishing task a simplistic calculation - useful for
rules-of thumb.
Task combinations - these are like sets of price list lines with the logic to determine how they are
used.
List lines can be arranged in 'groups', and you can define the logical steps to determine which line
to use in which circumstances.
Certain tasks have specific behaviour inside the calculation. We therefore need to tell the system
which these tasks are. You can press the 'standard tasks' button to define them
Having selected your task in the central column you can now select one of the tabs on the right
hand side.
