DIGITAL PRESS

graphic

Description: - The description of presses in the system need not only reflect the variety of presses you own, but could with advantage reflect the presses belonging to companies to whom you put out work. You can also set up  'different ' presses reflecting different ways of using the same press.

Types: - These are the different types of press you can currently set up in the system.  For this screen the type is set to digital. Changing the type from digital to something else will change the window completely as the parameters used to describe digital presses are radically different.

Running Charge per hour: - Here you should enter the rate per hour at which you want to charge out each Press.  This cost should reflect not only the actual gross cost of running this machine, but also the operator's time and its share of the indirect costs of the business.

Make ready charge per image: - This is the charge, if any, you make for readying a new image for this digital press

Paper size: - You can specify up to 4 different copy sizes through the drop-down list.  If the size you need isn't there, use Maintain Dimensions in System Services to add it.  Each of the 4 sizes can be specified with or without the bookletting attachment (assuming there is one). This is toggled on or off by clicking the  graphic  image alongside each size.  The speed at which a digital press runs with a bookletter can be slower than without it, so it is common practice to set up a size with and without the bookletter so you can itemize the different speeds.

Click cost per 1000: - Enter here the click costs you are charged  for colour and black and white copying for each size you specify.  If you don't pay a click charge this can be zero, and if it is a mono press you (obviously) shouldn't fill in the row of colour click costs.

Clicks per hour: - For each size and/or  category of work (single or double sided, mono, colour or both) the running speed may potentially be different.  Enter a running speed for each possible category and size   If it isn't a colour copier then obviously you shouldn't fill in the speeds for colour, but if it is a colour copier you MUST fill in all the speeds in each size column.

From "clicks per hour" the system can work out the time taken for 1000 clicks and cost it using the running price per hour.  The click cost per hour is then added and the final total cost per 1000 displayed alongside each speed.

Minimum and maximum paper substance: - Most digital presses will only perform properly for a given range of paper substances. You should enter here the minimum and maximum weight and thickness that the press can run.  Failure to enter this can often result in a press not being even considered for a job.
